Melugin Named to CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-America Second Team

Missouri State junior men's soccer player Heath Melugin was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-America second team, the organization announced today.  Melugin holds a cumulative 3.96 grade point average and is majoring in cell and molecular biology.

Melugin was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District VII first team on November 2, the second-consecutive year that he has received the honor.  He also received the State Farm MVC Good Neighbor award this fall.

On the field, Melugin led the Bears with seven goals on the season.  He also led the team in points (15), shots taken (48) and shots on goal (22). 

In 2009, Melugin scored a team-high six goals.  He was named to the Academic All-MVC first team and earned MVC All-Tournament honors after scoring in the semifinal match.

Melugin was named to the MVC All-Freshman team in 2008.  He scored three goals in his freshman campaign, two of which were game-winners.
