Michnowicz Named MVC Volleyball Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State junior volleyball player Kelley Michnowicz has been named this week’s Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Michnowicz hit .414 in two road matches and moved her season hitting percentage to .393, higher than the current school record, at Creighton and Drake.

Friday at Creighton, the Belleville, Ill., native posted a season-high 17 kills against only two errors to hit .536 against a solid CU defense. The junior also had five blocks at CU.

Saturday, Michnowicz hit .300 with 13 kills in the five-set win at Drake. For the week, she had 30 kills for a 3.00 per set average to go with 0.50 blocks per set.

This is the second time in her Missouri State career that Michnowicz has won league player of the week honors. She was awarded Oct. 5 of last season, also following the Creighton/Drake road swing.
