Missouri State senior third baseman
Brayden Drake has been selected as this week’s Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Drake hit .615 with a homer and seven RBIs in Missouri State’s sweep of Indiana State over the weekend in which the Bears clinched the MVC title outright.
On Thursday, the senior third baseman from Webb City went 4-for-5 with five RBIs to pull MSU into a tie with ISU in the league standings. In Friday’s win that clinched the top seed in the Valley Tournament, Drake was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
In Saturday’s win, Drake had another two hits and scored twice to help the Bears win the title outright. Drake collected 13 total bases to slug 1.000 and was intentionally walked twice for a .625 on-base percentage.
Drake was also honored twice previously this season, on March 23 and May 11.
