Future Missouri State Bears Jerome Jones of Miller Career Academy and Keith Pickens of Oakville High School both led their respective teams to victory Saturday night in the MSHSAA boy's basketball quarterfinals.

Coach Nick Traxler's Oakville Tigers improved to 24-7 with a 68-48 win over Hazelwood Central in the Class 5 quarterfinals Saturday.  Pickens made 9-of-18 field goals to finish with a game-high 22 points to go with six rebounds and seven blocked shots. The 6-4, 190-pound shooting guard now has 105 blocked shots on the season.

Oakville will play Grandview (28-1) in the Class 5 Semifinals in Columbia, Friday at 5 p.m. with the winner advancing to play the Chaminade (25-4)/Rock Bridge (27-2) winner in the regionally-televised finals on FSN Saturday at 8:20 p.m.

In Class 4, Jerome Jones has sparked the upset-minded Miller Career Academy Phoenix during the postseason. After posting 31 points in Wednesday's sectional win, Jones netted a game-high 26 points Saturday in his squad's 54-41 win over St. Charles West in the state quarterfinals.

Jones, a 6-5, 201 forward, was 10-for-13 at the free throw line to spark the win for coach Michael Brown's team, which improved to 17-10 overall. Miller Career Academy will advance to Thursday's 5:10 p.m. Class 4 semifinal against Kearney (20-9) with the winner to play in Saturday's Class 4 3:05 p.m. title tilt against the winner of the St. Francis Borgia (26-3)/Helias (23-5) semifinal.
