The Missouri State field hockey team (6-14, 1-9 Mid-American Conference) was slated the sixth position in the MAC Tournament Nov. 6-8 in Kent, Ohio.
The Bears finished the regular season tied with Ball State with a 1-9 conference record. The tiebreaker came down to a head-to-head point differential.
When the Bears hosted Ball State on Sept. 29, Missouri State was victorious in overtime, 3-2. In Muncie, Ind., the Bears fell to Ball State 6-2.
Host and MAC regular season conference champion Kent State is the top seed followed by Miami (Ohio), Ohio, and Central Michigan.
The Bears play at 2:30 p.m. EST Thursday Nov. 6 against No. 3 Ohio, after the noon match up between No. 4 Central Michigan and No. 5 Ball State.
In two earlier meetings against Ohio, the Bears lost in the last 11 seconds in the Oct. 31 match and fell at Ohio 3-1 on Oct. 11.
Friday’s match-up will have the winner of the Central Michigan-Ball State game against No. 1 Kent State at noon. No. 2 Miami (Ohio) will take on the winner of the Ohio/Missouri State game at 2:30 p.m.
Saturday’s championship game will be played at 1 p.m.
