The Missouri State field hockey team fell to Miami (Ohio) Saturday, 8-2, in Oxford, Ohio. The Bears dropped to 6-9 on the season, 1-4 in Mid-American Conference play while Miami improved to 11-5, 5-2 in the MAC.
The Bears went into halftime only down 3-1. Sophomore Stephanie Chase connected with fellow sophomore Jennifer Portell for the first Missouri State goal.
Junior Melissa Lantz came out of halftime to score her 14th goal of the season, off a pass into the circle from junior Alyssa Hile.
Miami then fired off five straight goals. Miami also out shot, and earned more penalty corners than the Bears.
Senior Jessica Schuster took the loss, allowing all eight goals and collecting six saves.
The Bears return to action Sunday, Oct. 19, at Ball State in Munice, Ind., at noon before finishing the last to weeks of the regular season at home.
