The Missouri State field hockey team lost Sunday afternoon to the Ohio State Buckeyes, 5-0, in Columbus, Ohio. The Bears fall to 1-9 on the season while the Buckeyes improve to 5-6. Ohio State evened its record against Mid-American Conference teams at 2-2 with the win. Missouri State fell to 0-2 against Big Ten teams this season.
Ohio State spread out the offensive support against the Bears, having four different players get into the scoring column. Yesenia Luces, Emily Mikac and Michaela O'Malley all scored in the first half while Aisling McKeon and Luces scored in the second half. O'Malley added an assist to her totals while Mikac added two assists in the second half.
Goalkeeper Kim Kinsella allowed all five goals and collected 12 saves against the Buckeyes to bring her saves total for the season to 100.
The Bears open up conference play next weekend against Kent State on Sept. 29 and Ohio University on Sept. 30. Both games are set to start at 1 p.m. at Plaster Field.
