MISSOURI STATE FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO STANFORD 3-1

 Missouri State field hockey lost to former NorPac rival Stanford University, 3-1, Saturday afternoon in Stanford, Calif. The loss drops the Bears to 0-3, while it was the first win for the Cardinal (2-0) since beating No. 9 Boston College a week ago.
The Bears scored first at 25:33 off a tip in by Amanda Miyashita. Stanford answered back at 28:06 with a goal by Jess Zuta, off an assist by Camille Gandhi, going into halftime tied.
Stanford came back in the second half with two goals, one at 50:29 by Xanthe Travlos, off a pass by Hillary Braun, and at 69:49 by Gandhi, with help from Bailey Richardson.
Stanford outshot the Bears 30-4 and received more penalty corners (12-1).
Senior goalkeeper Kim Kinsella collected 16 saves, taking her season total to 42.
The Bears finish their west coast swing with a match against California on Mon., Sept. 3 at noon. Missouri State will be back on the road Sept. 8-9 in Iowa City, Iowa, with matches against Louisville and Iowa.
