Kinsella Makes Steps Toward Joining US National Team

Missouri State senior goalkeeper Kim Kinsella has earned a spot on the Midwest Squad in the USA Field Hockey National Championship- Women tournament in Virginia Beach, Va., on June 17-24.

According to Missouri State head coach Dawn Porter, the National Championships is another avenue to be selected into the US National Program and play on the squad.

Kinsella joins players from 2007 season opponents University of Iowa, University of Louisville and Indiana University, among other universities and members already designated to the US National Squad.

In the 2006 season, Kinsella was named to the Mid-American Conference second team, Academic All-MAC team and was the NCAA Division I Statistical Championship in saves per game (10.5) and save percentage (.816). She also posted a 2.44 goals-against average with 156 saves and was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 28.

MSU finished the 2006 season at 1-9 in the Mid-American Conference and 5-13 overall.
