The National Field Hockey Coaches Association named six Missouri State field hockey players to the 2006 NFHCA Divsion I National Academic Squad. The Bears were also recognized as a team for the 2006 NFHCA Divison I National Academic Team Award by having a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Seniors Melissa Behr and Stephani Wehrman, junior goalkeeper Kim Kinsella, and sophomores Sandy Fulkerson, Jessica Schuster and Katie Schwartz represented the Bears on the academic squad.
MSU finished the season at 1-9 in the Mid-American Conference, 5-12 for the season.
Kinsella, Wehrman and Behr were also named to the Academic All-MAC team.
Kinsella ended the season with 156 saves and a save percentage of .817. Forward Wehrman led the team with seven goals, one assist and 15 points.
