Detwiler named MVC Pitcher of the Week

Missouri State junior Ross Detwiler has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance against South Dakota State on March 16, it was announced by the league office late Monday afternoon.
The ace southpaw went eight innings and allowed just two hits to earn his second victory of the season in Missouri State’s 5-1 win over the Jackrabbits.
The lefty struck out five batters, one in each of the first five innings, and took a no-hitter into the fifth before SDSU blooped a hit down the left field line. He surrendered one unearned run, and extended his personal streak of starts without allowing more than two earned runs to nine.
It is the second MVC Pitcher of the Week honor for Detwiler in his career, to go along with a pair of National Pitcher of the Week awards.
