Field Hockey Season Ended by Miami

The Missouri State field hockey Bears 2007 season ended with a 3-1 loss to Miami University Thursday afternoon in Oxford, Ohio, in the first round of the Mid-American Confernce Tournament. The Bears finished the season with a 2-19 record, 1-9 in MAC play. Miami advances to the second round to face second-seeded Kent State Nov. 2.

Miami's Alyssa Nye scored her 10th and 11th goals of the season, one in each half. The first half goal was scored unassisted while Maggie Marcum assisted the second half goal. Christine Brightwell added a third goal for Miami with an assist by Megan Kramer.

Sophomore Melissa Lantz scored the Bears' lone goal in the second half unassisted for her third goal of the season.

Kinsella allowed three goals and collected 15 saves to finish the season with 239 saves and a save percentage of .794.

The MAC also announced that three Bears were named to the All-MAC teams at the award banquet Thursday evening. Junior Sarah Johnson was the lone representative for Missouri State on the first team All-MAC. Kinsella was named to the second team for a third straight season, while junior Alyssa Hile made her first appearance to the team.

Johnson was a vocal leader for the defense in all 21 games for the Bears this season. She assisted in two goals for two point, posted 11 shots, with five on goal for a .455 shot on goal percentage.

A forward, Hile was also a 21 game starter for the Bears this season. Hile collected one assist for one point with eight shots, three on goal.
