No. 8 ranked Creighton shutout the Missouri State men’s soccer team 1-0 Saturday. The loss to Missouri Valley Conference co-leader drops the Bears to 4-9-3 overall and 0-2-2 in the conference while Creighton improves to 9-1-4 and 3-0-1 respectively.
Missouri State recorded a stellar defensive effort against the Bluejays, as the game remained scoreless until the 84th minute. CU’s Jeff Thayer knocked in a loose ball after a save for the game winner.
MSU senior goalkeeper Lance Parker recorded six saves. The Missouri State offense was led by senior midfielder Yanik Joseph and sophomore defender Nick Dryden with two shots apiece. Junior midfielder Justin Alford recorded the Bears’ lone shot on goal.
Missouri State will host the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Wednesday, in its final non-conference game of the season. The Bears will then conclude MVC regular-season action with home games at Plaster Field against Evansville (November 3) and Drake (November 10) on Senior Night.
