FIeld Hockey shutout by No.15 Ohio

The Missouri State field hockey team lost to Mid-American Conference opponent No. 15 Ohio University, 6-0, Sunday afternoon in Athens, Ohio. The loss puts the Bears at 1-17 on the season, 0-8 in MAC play, while the Bobcats improve to 14-4 and 8-1 in the MAC.

Torrie Albini scored twice in the opening half, the first goal scored at 3:12 with help from Katelyn Shelley and her second goal at 20:28 unassisted. Albini completed the hat trick at 43:14 with help from Lauren Stahluth and Nikki Gnozzio.

Patty Donahue, Shelley, and Taylor Anderson each scored a goal a piece for Ohio in the second half. Albini helped on Donahue's and Anderson's goals while Marcy Dull helped Shelley.

Albini led all players with 10 shots, six of them on goal and converting three. Ohio outshot the Bears, 30-6, and earned more corners, 11-4.

Missouri State goalkeeper Kim Kinsella allowed all six goals and collected 12 saves to increase her season total to 199. Junior Sandy Fulkerson collected two defensive saves against Ohio, moving her season total to 7 defensive saves for the Bears.

The Bears will close out the 2007 season at home with a Fri., Oct. 26 match-up against Miami University at 12 p.m. and a Sun., Oct. 28 match against Ball State at 11 a.m.
