The Missouri State volleyball team has been selected as College Volleyball Update’s 2006 Overall Defensive Team of the Year for its outstanding performance throughout last season.
MSU held opponents to a .119 hitting efficiency, the second-lowest figure in the country, and ranked 27th nationallywith 3.11 blocks per game.
Senior libero Adeana McAfee led the defense all season, setting a school and MVC record with 654 total digs. Sarah Lansing and Shanda Harper ranked third and fourth in the league in blocks per game.
The Bears ended 2006 with a 27-9 record and defeated Arkansas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to earn the program’s first ever NCAA win.
