At Missouri State
Sarah Lansing will provide leadership and experience to a young group of Bears as she enters her fifth and final season with Missouri State . . . she has started 93 of the 98 matches she has played for the Bears . . . As a junior (2005): Lansing had an outstanding junior campaign, putting the final touches on it with a terrific showing in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament to earn her a place on the all-tourney squad . . . started 31 of the Bears' 33 matches . . . ranks seventh in Missouri State history in hitting percentage at .281 and ranks 10th in blocks per game with 1.10 . . . ranked 10th in The Valley in hitting percentage in 2005 at .293 . . . tied her career high with 16 kills on 26 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage vs. Wichita State at Hammons Student Center . . . contributed a career high eight digs in the Bears' home win over Indiana State . . . had six double-digit kill matches in 2005, including back-to-back matches in the Valley Tournament . . . As a sophomore (2004): Lansing appeared in 33 matches with 32 starts, and played in 119 of 120 games . . . She was named tournament MVP at the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational, registering a career-high 16 kills and hitting .344 (16-5-32) with nine blocks in the final match of the competition . . . She also earned MVC Player of the Week and MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week for her efforts during the week of 8/30-9/5 . . . She recorded 13 blocks in an exciting victory over Illinois State (10/8), adding five blocks and two digs to her match totals . . . She also was impressive in the season opener at SEMO with 15 kills, five blocks, two service aces and two digs . . . As a freshman (2003): After getting a redshirt year in 2002, Lansing saw significant playing time in 2003 . . . She played in 32 matches with 30 starts and saw action in 100 of 115 games . . . Lansing hit her then-career-high 10 kills along with two service aces and three blocks in a win at Southern Illinois (11/1) . . . Had eight kills in 10 attempts in a win at UMKC (11/4) to create her season-high kill percentage of .800 . . . She had five matches leading Missouri State in blocks . . . She was also impressive in a match against Saint Louis (9/5) where she had six blocks and nine kills.
Background:
Lansing came to Missouri State after an impressive prep career . . . She finished her three seasons at Quincy Senior High as the all-time career blocks leader . . . She was also a two-time all-conference pick . . . As a senior she was named team captain and was the Blue Devils' Most Outstanding Offensive Player . . . She earned all-state special mention by the Chicago Tribune and all-state honors by the Champaign News-Gazette.
