The Missouri State field hockey team was defeated by Ohio University 1-0 on Saturday at Plaster Sports Complexin Mid-American Conference action. The loss puts the Bears at 1-1 in the conference and 5-4 overall while Ohio improves to 4-0 in the conference and 6-5 for the season.
Ohio scored the game's only goal at 23:02 by Estienne Coetzee with an assist by Torrie Albini. Missouri State had three shots on goal by junior forward Melissa Millin.
Missouri State received more penalty corners than Ohio, 8-6, but Ohio outshot the Bears 11-7. Missouri State goalkeeper Kim Kinsella pushed her saves total to 63 by recording five saves against Ohio.
Missouri State will be on the road for games against Miami University on Oct. 7, at 12 p.m. and against Ball State on Oct. 8, at 1 p.m.
