The Missouri State field hockey team pushed its winning streak to five after defeating Kent State, 2-1, Friday at Plaster Sports Complex in Springfield, Mo. Missouri State improves to 1-0 in conference, 5-3 overall while Kent State fell to 1-2 in the MAC, 3-8 overall this season.
The Bears scored first off a penalty corner shot by junior Melissa Millin, with assists from Sandy Fulkerson and Ashley Huck. Kent State kept it close by scoring 37 seconds before the end of the first half. Huck was able to put the winning goal in at 54:42.
Missouri State outshot Kent State, 17-12, and received more penalty corners, 11-9. Goalkeeper Kim Kinsella pushed her saves total to 58 by recording nine saves against Kent State.
Missouri State will face Ohio Saturday at 11 a.m. at Plaster Sports Complex.
