Women's Soccer Falls to Saint Louis, 2-0

Sophomore goalkeeper Jackie Jasper recorded eight saves, but 27th-ranked Saint Louis scored two second half goals to defeat the Missouri State women's soccer team, 2-0, Tuesday night in St. Louis, Mo. The Billikens held the Bears to one shot for the match, and scored on goals from Dee Guempel and Cassi Winchell in the 52nd and 61st minutes, respectively. Missouri State drops to 1-2 on the season, while Saint Louis improves to 1-1-1.

Jasper made four first half saves, keeping the Bears in the match. The Bears, however, were unable to gain momentum on the offensive side and could not muster a shot in the half. Jasper picked up four more saves in the second half and sophomore Meghan Cassady fired a shot on goal, but the Bears were unable to hold back the Saint Louis offensive attack, as the Billikens outshot MSU 8-1 in the half, and 17-1 for the match.

Missouri State next hits the road for two weekend matches. The Bears will play at the University of Tennessee-Martin on Friday at 4 p.m. and travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo., on Sunday to take on Southeast Missouri State in a 1 p.m. contest.
