Missouri State's field hockey team had three players named to the All Mid-American Conference Academic Team, announced by the MAC today. Junior goalkeeper Kimberly Kinsella, senior defender Melissa Behr, and senior forward Stephani Wehrman were three of the 15 players honored.
Wehrman has a 3.66 GPA in Public Relations. In the 2006 season, she led the team with seven goals, one assist and 15 points as a forward on the team. Recently, Wehrman was also an All-MAC first team selection and an Offensive Player of the Week for the conference on September 18.
Behr has a 3.86 GPA in nursing at Missouri State. She started in all of the Bears' games, providing leadership and starting many offensive runs with her solid defense, as well as scoring three goals on the season.
Kinsella ended the season with 156 saves and a save percentage of .817. She was an All-MAC second team selection this season after a four-week period of leading the nation with her impressive save percentage. Kinsella has a 3.59 GPA in Marketing Management. She was also the MAC Defensive Player of the Week on August 28.
The Bears' season ended in the first round of the MAC tournament, losing against Miami 3-1, capping the Bears at 1-9 in conference play and 5-13 for the season.
Ohio University, the regular season and postseason champion, was defeated November 7 in its NCAA Play-In match against No. 13 California, 1-0 in overtime.
