Field Hockey Sixth Seed in MAC Tournament

In the Bears' second season in the Mid-American Conference, it was announced by the MAC on Sunday that the Missouri State field hockey team is the sixth seed in the six-team league going into postseason play. This season's tournament will be held at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, November 2-4.

The Bears will play at 2:30 p.m. on November 2 against the third seed Miami, after the noon matchup between fourth seeded Central Michigan and no.5 seed Kent State. Both no. 1 Ohio and second seeded Ball State have first round byes.

MSU finished the season at 1-9 in the MAC, 5-12 for the season.

Bears' goalkeeper Kim Kinsella ended the season with 156 saves and a save percentage of .817. Senior forward Stephani Wehrman led the team with seven goals, one assist and 15 points.

In the 2005 season, the Bears were the fifth seed and lost in the opening round to four seed Central Michigan 4-0. Before joining the MAC, the Bears were a part of the Northern Pacific Field Hockey Conference since 1998. Missouri State last conference title of any kind came in 2001 when the Bears won the NorPac regular season crown.
