The Missouri State field hockey team's 2006 season was ended by Miami University 3-1 in the first round of Mid- American Conference tournament Thursday afternoon in Athens, Ohio.
The Bears were outshot 15-7 and received less corners than Miami, 10-5.
Senior Stephani Wehrman broke the Miami defensive stronghold at 45:28 when she took the first shot at Miami's goalkeeper Megan Stengel. Freshman Melissa Lantz led the team with two shots on goal, but it was junior Melissa Millin's one shot on goal that slipped by Miami goalkeeper Kelsey Dean at 64:35 in the second half.
MSU finished the season at 1-9 in the MAC and 5-13 overall.
After today's games, the conference announced that Wehrman was named to the All-MAC first team. Wehrman led the team with seven goals, one assist and 15 points this season. Bears' goalkeeper Kim Kinsella and senior Ashley Huck were named to the All-MAC second team. Kinsella ended the season with 168 saves and a save percentage of .815. Huck scored five goals and two assists for the Bears this season.
