The Missouri State volleyball team limited MVC rival Drake to a -.010 attack percentage in a 30-15, 30-19, 30-15 sweep of the Bulldogs Saturday night at the Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Bears improved to 23-6 overall and 13-3 in the league, earning the program’s 999th victory in the process. Drake fell to 6-22 and 2-14 in MVC play.
MSU’s offense came out swinging in the first game, hitting .455 in a 30-15 victory. Shanda Harper had five kills on five swings and finished the match with 12 kills on .529 hitting to lead all players. The Bears also had five of their nine blocks for the match in the first period.
The offense slowed slightly but still hit a respectable .184 in the second game, as Harper turned in five more kills and Jamie Adams had four. The Bulldogs hit -.028, with just seven kills in 36 attempts.
Erin O’Connor had four kills without an error in game three to reach 10 for the match, as the Bears closed out the issue with .355 hitting in a 30-15 win. Adams had three more kills and finished the match with nine on .444 hitting.
Missouri State finished with 49 kills to 24 for DU, holding its fourth opponent of the season to a negative hitting percentage.
The Bears return home for the final two regular season contests of the season next weekend, facing Indiana State on Friday and Illinois State on Saturday. First serve for both matches is set for 7 p.m. at Hammons Student Center.
