Missouri State’s women’s golf team shot a three-round total of 913 to win the Wendy’s ORU Shootout Tuesday, hosted by Oral Roberts University at the par 72, 6,082-yard Meadowbrook Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
The Bears took the lead into Tuesday’s final round after rounds of 312 and 305 on Monday, and fired a tournament-best 296 to finish eight shots clear of runner-up Arkansas State.
MSU was again led by senior
Sally Hinton, who rebounded from a first round 78 to claim a runner-up finish, firing a 72 in Monday’s second round and a final round 69 for a tournament score of 219, five shots off the pace set by medalist Gerina Mendoza of UTEP. Hinton’s 69 was the only round in the 60s by any of the 74 competitors.
Missy Linnens (81-75-75) and
Stacey Rodger (75-78-78) turned in matching scores of 231 to tie for twelfth-place, and
Lyndsey Adams took advantage of Tuesday’s good scoring conditions to card a 74 in the final round and finish tied for 23rd with an event score of 237. Amy Phalaljivin rounded out Missouri State’s scoring with a three round total of 245 (85-80-80), good for a tie for 46th.
The Bears travel to Franklin, Ind., next Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 9 and 10, for the Shootout at the Legends.
