The Missouri State field hockey team lost to Miami University, 4-2, Friday afternoon in Springfield, Mo, in Mid-American Conference play. The loss drops the Bears to 5-11 for the season, 1-8 in the MAC while Miami improves to 9-11 on the season, 6-4 in the conference.
The Bears scored first off a deflection in front of the net from junior Melissa Millin in the third minute of the game. Senior Ashley Huck quickly followed with another goal at 3:30.
Miami answered at 5:46 with an unassisted goal by Mary Hull. The Redhawks tied the game at 7:26 off a penalty corner from Alyssa Nye by Danielle Perrecone. Miami's Taylor Florence scored the game-winning goal at 21:49 with an assist from Perrecone. Miami added one more goal to push their lead up in the second half with another unassisted goal by Hull.
Missouri State goalkeeper Kim Kinsella added 10 saves to push her total to 154 for the season, but allowed all four of Miami's goals. Kinsella's save percentage sits at .824.
The Bears close out the regular season at home with Ball State on Sunday, October 29, at 11 a.m., before heading to Athens, Ohio, for the conference tournament November 2-4.
