MVC Defensive Player of the Week (9/24/12)

2012 (Junior)
• Started 24 matches as a junior and appeared in all 31, missing just four of the team[apos]s 117 sets
• Honored as the MVC[apos]s Defensive Player of the Week Sept. 24 after recording 12 blocks in seven sets against Southern Illinois and Evansville while posting 26 kills on the offensive side
• Ranked second on the team with a .284 hitting percentage to go with 2.20 kills and 0.95 blocks per set
• Landed a career-high 18 kills (on .438 hitting) in the Aug. 30 home opener versus Oral Roberts, adding five blocks in MSU[apos]s five-set win
• Hit .500 with 15 kills two days later against Arkansas-Little Rock
• Ended the season with 11 matches of at least 10 kills
• Began the MVC season with four consecutive matches of double-figure kills, averaging 3.13 kills per set with a .380 hitting efficiency
• Had at least 10 kills in half of MSU[apos]s 18 league matches
• Hit .500 or better eight times, including nine kills on .615 hitting in a sweep of UConn (9/7)
• Concluded the season with 249 kills, 107 blocks and 34 digs

2011 (Sophomore)
• Made 20 starts and played in 26 matches and 87 sets for the Bears in 2011
• Opened the season with 11 kills on .474 hitting against Oral Roberts (8/26)
• Hit .216 for the year with averages of 1.78 kills, 0.70 blocks, 2.22 points and 0.36 digs per set
• Season high of 12 kills came Oct. 28 against No. 12 UNI
• Had five blocks in a match on three occasions
• Posted at least 10 kills in four matches and hit .300 or better in nine matches

2010 (Redshirt Freshman)
• Played in 14 sets over 12 matches, logging 12 kills, nine blocks, three assists and three digs
• Season high of three kills came against SEMO (9/4), while she added three blocks and hit .500 in that match as well
• Had two kills against Canisius (8/28), at Wichita State (10/29) and at home against UNI (11/20)
• Recorded two blocks against Canisius (8/28), at Illinois State (10/22) and at home versus Drake (11/5)
• Hit .267 for the year, logging at least one kill with no errors in five separate matches

Background
• Transferred to MSU prior to the 2010 season after redshirting as a true freshman at Stephen F. Austin
• Four-year letterwinner for Seguin High in Arlington, Texas
• Four-time academic all-district selection in high school
• District hitter of the year as a senior and district middle blocker of the year as a sophomore
• Helped Seguin to its first ever volleyball playoff appearance in 2008, a trip to the regional semifinals
• Standout basketball player who led the Cougars to as high as No. 1 in the state rankings as a senior
