Adam Nerio joined the Missouri State women’s soccer staff as an assistant coach in 2026, bringing a diverse background across NCAA Division I, II, and III levels, along with elite youth development experience.

Nerio arrives in Springfield after serving as an assistant coach at Idaho State University, where he was involved in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, player development, scouting, video analysis, and team operations.   During his time with the Bengals, he helped contribute to one of the program’s most competitive stretches in recent years, including a Big Sky Conference Tournament appearance and multiple program statistical improvements.

Prior to Idaho State, Nerio spent four seasons at St. Mary’s University (TX), where he helped guide the program to one of the most successful seasons in school history, including its first NCAA Tournament at-large bid and a Lone Star Conference semifinal appearance.   He also served as interim head coach and played a key role in developing multiple all-conference players.

Nerio’s coaching experience also includes a stop at Schreiner University and time with the New York Red Bulls Youth Training Programs, where he worked with high-level youth players and served as a lead trainer.

A native of San Antonio, Texas, Nerio was a dual-sport athlete at Centenary College, competing in both men’s soccer and NCAA Division I cross country. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science from Centenary and a Master of Arts in Public History from St. Mary’s University, where he received the Presidential Award for leadership, service, and academic excellence.  

He holds a United States Soccer Federation “C” License and a United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level 1 Diploma.
