Michelle Armentrout has made a big impact in her first two seasons with the Bears, starting 106 games. She will again hold down the starting job at third base as a junior.
2006: Armentrout started all 56 of the games she played, driving in 31 runs for the team's second-best RBI total, which also tied for seventh-best in the MVC. For the season, Armentrout batted .246 with 41 hits, nine doubles, a triple, and five home runs. On defense, Armentrout recorded 51 putouts and had the team's second-best assist total, with 138, for a .940 fielding percentage. Armentrout was named to the MVC All-Tournament Team, as she helped lead the Bears to the tournament championship by batting .444 with four hits, including two home runs, and driving in five runs. She blasted a grand slam in the Bears' first game of the tournament against Creighton and added a solo homer in the title game against Wichita State. Armentrout registered 10 multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games for the season.
2005: Armentrout had an impressive campaign as a freshman, playing in all 52 games with 50 starts. Armentrout had a .260 average at the plate and led the Bears with nine doubles and 19 RBIs and was second on the team with 40 runs scored. In the field, Armentrout held a .958 fielding percentage, commiting just six errors in 142 chances.
Background: Armentrout came to Missouri State after starting all four seasons for Broken Arrow (Okla.) High, where she helped lead her team to three straight state championships. Armentrout received all-state honors her senior season, batting .364 with two home runs, 22 runs scored and seven doubles. During her junior year, she received honorable mention all-region honors. She was also a part of a USFA national championship squad, playing with the Oklahoma Illusion in 2004.
Personal: Michelle Lee Armentrout is the daughter of Terry and Valerie Armentrout. She was born January 9, 1986, in Midwest City, Okla. She is majoring in criminology.
