Started 47 times -- all at second base - her junior season and batted .275 with four triples and 10 RBI ... Was second on the squad with 20 runs ... Also ranked second on the team with 101 putouts and was third with 68 assists ... Was part of eight double plays in Valley games, which ranked fourth in the league ... Shared MVC lead and ranked 57th nationally in triples per game (0.09) ... Also shared Valley lead with two triples in conference games ... Posted season-high three hits in win over Loyola (March 25) ... Went 6-for-10 in series sweep of Loyola ... Drove in two runs and scored twice in win over Alabama State (March 11) ... Had four assists in back-to-back games vs. New Mexico and Texas A&M on Feb. 17 ... Notched season-high seven putouts in series finale against Evansville (April 15) ... Jones played in all 52 games with 49 starts ... Her .295 average was second-best on the team ... Was 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts ... Scored 21 runs with 10 RBI and seven extra-base hits ... Drew a walk and scored a run in the season-opening win over Texas Southern (Feb. 12) ... Racked up two hits, drew a walk, scored twice and drove in a run in win over Northern Colorado (Feb. 13) ... went 2-for-3 with a run scored in win over Austin Peay (Feb. 26) starting a seven-game hitting streak ... had a 4-for-4 game with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in win over Mercer (Feb. 27) ... Went 2-for-3 in three-straight games to open the Cancer Awareness Tournament in St. Louis (March 4-5) ... Added a triple, stolen base and scored a run in the opener versus host Saint Louis while driving in a run and drawing a walk later in the day against UMKC (March 4) ... Hit safely in each of the first four games of the Jayhawk Invitational including two runs scored and her second triple of the year (March 10-12) ... Played in 29 games with 26 starts before a season-ending injury cut her second year short ... Hit .275 with eight RBI and 14 runs scored ... Began the season with a 3-for-4 outing with two runs scored, a RBI and a stolen base in win over Abilene Christian (Feb. 6) ... Drew a walk, scored and had a single later in the day versus ULM (Feb. 6) ... Walked and scored in win over Eastern Michigan (Feb. 13) ... Doubled, drew a walk and scored a run against Penn State (Feb. 13) ... Had a base hit against Penn State and No. 22 Texas A&M (Feb. 14-15) ... Went 2-for-3 with a run scored and RBI versus Iowa (Feb. 22) ... Drove in four runs on three hits and a sac fly in doubleheader sweep of UMKC (March 11) ... Drilled a double at home versus Arkansas (March 12) ... Went 2-for-3 with a run scored in series finale against Drake (March 16) ... Reached base safely in all three games at Bradley with two hits, two walks and two runs scored in the series (March 21-22) ... Went 3-for-3 with a double, triple, RBI and three runs scored at Indiana State (March 29), but left the game with a season-ending injury.
2014 (Redshirt)
Played in 10 games before a season-ending injury in the final game of the Blues City Classic ... She hit safely in six of the 10 games, including a 3-for-3 outing with three runs scored at UT Arlington (Feb. 14) ... Drove in two runs and scored once with a triple against Morehead State (Feb. 21) ... Walked twice and scored a run versus Alabama A&M (Feb. 21) ... had a single, stole a base and scored against Memphis (Feb. 22).
Background
Started all four seasons at shortstop for head coach Kim White at Blue Valley Northwest High in Overland Park, Kan. ... Led the Huskies in hitting and stolen bases in each of her first three seasons ... Led her team to the state tournament for the first time in 10 seasons as a senior and earned all-state first team honors ... Took home the MVP award at the annual MOKAN game as a senior ... Was a four-time Eastern Kansas League (EKL) scholar-athlete selection and was named to the league honorable mention team three times ... Earned team defensive player of the year honors as a junior ... Named team MVP her sophomore campaign ... Was also the team offensive player of the year as a freshman ... Jones’ club team, the KC Peppers, finished ninth at the 2013 Premier Nationals and participated in three national championship games during her summer softball career ... Named Defensive MVP of the U16 World Series as a 14-year-old ... Competed in eight consecutive ASA National Tournaments ... While at Blue Valley Northwest, Jones also played varsity basketball all four years and was a team manager of the football team for two seasons.
