Was a McDonald[apos]s All-American candidate at South Eugene High School in Eugene, Ore., his senior season for coach Dave Hancock . . . Averaged 19.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game, while claiming first-team all-Southwest Conference honors and Oregon All-Star Game selection and helping his team to the state final 16 . . . Broke the South Eugene school record for rebounding his 12th grade season with 262 boards. . . Also posted career highs of 37 points and 16 rebounds his senior year . . . Averaged 15.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game his junior year while claiming honorable mention all-conference and all-state laurels . . .
