Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach Collin Crane started at Missouri State on July 1 and will be assigned to the sports of men[apos]s basketball, tennis and golf while assisting the MSU director of strength and conditioning[apos]s operation on a daily basis.

Crane is a 2013 graduate of Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn., and comes to MSU after two years at the University of Florida. He worked with men[apos]s basketball at Florida, including the 2013-14 season as assistant strength and conditioning coach for Billy Donovan[apos]s Gators. During his tenure at Florida, he also worked with former Florida standouts Bradley Beal, Chandler Parsons, Eric Murphy and Patrick Young and other active alums who utilized the Florida strength program in the offseason.

He was a four-year starter at forward for Carson-Newman and was team captain three years. The program[apos]s season-end award was renamed the Collin Crane Leadership Award after the example he set for his team during his playing career at the Division II program. His college coach Charles Benson, was also a long-time assistant at Tennessee.

A firm believer in video, strength and diet analysis, he is a certified specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and also has professional CPR and first aid certification. Crane is also fully trained and certified in the Biosignature Modulation Level I program, an integrated system to track an athlete[apos]s body composition and nutritional needs.

Originally from Knoxville, Tenn., Crane was a prep basketball and track standout at Karns High School where he was a two-time all-district and team MVP for the Beavers his junior and senior seasons.

The 24-year-old comes from a basketball family where his brother, Cameron, was a college player and prominent high school coach, and his father, Keith, was also a standout player at Maryville (Tenn.) College.
