Andrew Cheney

Andrew Cheney joined the staff at Missouri State University as a full-time assistant athletic trainer in July 2022. He is responsible for the athletic health care of the Missouri State football team. 

Since January 2021, Cheney served as an assistant athletic trainer for football and men's tennis at Stetson University, where his main responsibilities were on and off field injury evaluation, managing student-athletes’ rehabilitation processes, emergency response and first aid care, and maintaining the supplies inventory. 

Prior to his stint at Stetson, Cheney was an athletic training graduate assistant at South Dakota State for two years, where he provided care for the football, track and field and cross country programs. In the past, he has also served as an athletic training intern with the Spokane Shock, Seattle Seahawks and at Coastal Carolina. 

Cheney earned his bachelor’s degree in both Athletic Training and Exercise Science from Eastern Washington University in 2017, where he spent time as an athletic training student worker while pursuing his degree. In 2019, he earned his master’s degree in Sport and Recreation Administration from South Dakota State. He is a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer who is licensed in Missouri, with additional certifications and memberships including Rocktape Functional, Movement Technique Basic/Performance Certified, KAATSU Blood Flow Restriction Certified, IDEA Training Fascia for Function Certified, CPR/AED Certified and IASTM Practitioner.

A native of Mountain Home, Idaho, Cheney resides in Springfield with his wife, Julianna Johnson.
