Background
Brock was a four-year starter at Mount Vernon both as a point guard in basketball for the Mountaineers of his father, coach Skip Brock, and a quarterback in football for coach Dan Henderson. Both programs saw steady improvement in Brock[apos]s prep years, going from records of 14-11 and 18-11 his first two years in basketball to a mark of 24-6 when he was a junior with a 28-2 season his senior year with a perfect 7-0 Big 8 Conference mark. Brock averaged 14 points a game as a freshman, hiked that figured to 21 a contest his sophomore year, got 18 a game his junior season and jumped up to 24.3 points a contest as a senior. He also averaged 6.9 rebounds and 4.0 assists his senior year to collect all-state, all-Ozarks, all-district and all-conference honors. He was selected as the Big 8 Conference Player of the Year and was the
Joplin Globe Player of the Year. In addition to setting a school mark with 28 wins last season, Mount Vernon won district and Blue and Gold Tournament championships. Brock finished his career with 2,330 points, setting all-time MVHS records for points, free throws and three-point field goals. As a junior, he won conference, district, area, Ozarks and state first team honors as Mount Vernon won a district title and finished fourth in the 2006 Class 3 state tournament. In football, Mt. Vernon was 10-1 in Brock[apos]s senior season, with a perfect 7-0 conference record. Brock was an academic all-state selection in basketball as a senior.Personal
Tomas Hugh Brock was born June 17, 1988, in Joplin, Mo., the son of Skip and Lori Brock. Tomas has an undecided academic major at Missouri State.
