Cross Country Adds Four Marks to All-Time 6K List

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri State cross country recorded four top-15 all-time 6K performances Friday at the Gans Creek Classic while finishing 19th in the 29-team Gold Invitational.

The Bears finished with 522 points, placing ahead of Texas, Drake, Vermont, Southern Indiana, Cincinnati and Iowa. Missouri won the Gold Invitational with 56 points, followed by Kentucky with 136 and Florida State with 152.

"I thought we had a really great showing today. This is as competitive of a field as we'll see all year and I think we handled ourselves well," said head coach Jordan Fife. "It was nice to take down a handful of solid programs and make several additions to the all-time list. We know there's more work to be done and we're excited about racing again next week at Arkansas."

Ella Cronhardt led Missouri State for the second consecutive meet, placing 78th overall with a time of 21:03.5. Her time ranks fifth on Missouri State's all-time 6K performance list.

Tabitha Fox made the largest move among the Bears during the race. After sitting 153rd at the 1,000-meter mark, Fox climbed 53 places to finish 100th in 21:15.0.

Riley Bryan crossed just behind Fox in 105th with a time of 21:17.7, which ranks 12th on Missouri State's all-time 6K performance list. Makenna Madetzke followed in 122nd at 21:27.8, the 14th-fastest mark in program history, while Amy Gotfredson completed Missouri State's scoring five in 129th at 21:30.1, good for 15th all-time.

Elsa Henry followed in 134th with a time of 21:32.2, giving Missouri State six runners across the line within 28.7 seconds of one another. Elizabeth Arenas rounded out the Bears' Gold Invitational lineup in 240th at 23:11.2.

Five Bears also competed in the Black Open, led by Ella Rew, who placed 14th with a time of 21:58.6. Lena Singleton finished 29th in 22:23.3, followed by Kaitlyn Hatley in 39th at 22:41.0. Britta Foust crossed 70th in 23:07.0, while Madi Conklin finished 73rd in 23:08.9.
