First and Ten Notes
- On Saturday, Missouri State takes its second trip of the season to the Lone Star State when the Bears square off with No. 22/25 SMU at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas at 8 p.m. (ACC Network). It will mark MSU's third straight away/neutral game in Texas. Â
- LB Jared "Bird" Lloyd (5th, Daytona Beach, Fla.) remains Conference USA's top tackler after matching a career high with 13 total tackles vs. Marshall last week. It marked Lloyd's 4th double-figure tackle effort over the last 6 games and matched the highest defensive production in the league. Lloyd's season average of 10.7 tackles per game ranks No. 6 nationally, while his 5.67 solo stops game ranks 15th.
- Bears head coach Casey Woods was offensive coordinator at SMU the past four years (2022-25) under Rhett Lashlee, helping the Mustangs to four bowl games in that span, including a 2024 CFP appearance. Woods has 6 other former SMU staff members on his inaugural coaching staff at Missouri State (see p. 7).
- WR Jmariyae Robinson (5th, Cocoa, Fla.) has caught a pass in a school-record 38 consecutive games, dating back to Sept. 1, 2023. With 16 career TD receptions, he needs 2 more touchdowns to match the squad's career record (18), held by Steve Newbold (1977-80) and Jeff Hewitt (1998-00). Robinson also ranks No. 4 on Mo State's career receptions list (140) and No. 8 in career receiving yards (1,816).
- MSU's offensive line ranks 11th nationally in fewest sacks allowed per game (0.67) and has helped the Bears rack up over 500 yards of total offense the past two weeks. Against Marshall, MSU surrendered just 3 negative plays in 65 snaps and did not allow a sack.Â
- Fifth-year QB Skyler Locklear (Clayton, N.C.) logged his third career 300-yard passing game and completed 68 percent of his passes while racking up a career-high (and league-high) 362 yards of total offense vs. Marshall. He ranks 27th in yards per pass attempt (9.18), which also leads CUSA. He also charts 35th in yards per completion (13.57), 44th in pass efficiency (157.0) and 45th in completion pct. (.677).
- Missouri State's 13 passing plays of 20+ yards this season is tied for 31st nationally among all FBS clubs. The Bears had 9 passing plays of 20+ yards vs. Marshall after tallying 4 total in their first two games.
- WR Isaiah Myers (5th, Cincinnati, Ohio) posted a career-high 7 receptions and tallied 141 yards with a TD vs. Marshall last week. He became the first Bear since Raylen Sharpe (10/28/23 to 11/11/23) to log consecutive 100-yard receiving games. He ranks 12th nationally in yards per reception (24.67), 15th in receiving yards per game (98.7) and 17th in total receiving yards (296) -- all of which are No. 2 in Conference USA.
- Myers also has 7 plays of 20+ yards this season, including 6 by pass reception, which ranks No. 5 in FBS and No. 1 in CUSA.Â
- MSU's 506 yards of total offense vs. Marshall last week marked the squad's third-most yards ever vs. an FBS foe, trailing only 552 at Tulsa (9/8/90) and 535 at Kennesaw State (11/22/25).
- The Bears boast 15 players from the state of Texas, more than any other state outside Missouri (22).
- Mo State is seeking its first-ever win vs. a ranked FBS foe. The Bears are 0-8 all-time vs. AP-ranked FBS clubs, most recently at No. 8 Texas A&M on Sept. 5.Â
