No. 12 Men’s Soccer Dominates Temple, 3-0

Philadelphia, Pa. - No. 12 Missouri State men's soccer (6-0-1, 2-0) beat Temple (0-6-2, 0-2), with a dominant 3-0 scoreline on Sunday afternoon in its second straight American Conference victory of the season.
The Bears extend their unbeaten streak to seven games, their longest since a 13-match run in 2024.
This is also the Bears' second clean sheet of the season, the first being a 5-0 victory over Chicago State at home on Aug. 30.
"I'm just super proud of the guys for the execution of the game plan, working hard and the effort they gave. We were really focused on getting a clean sheet tonight and we did," exclaimed head coach Michael Seabolt after the victory.
Fifth-year Diego Real wasted no time securing his fifth goal of the season. In just the sixth minute, he utilized a perfect pass by senior Daniel Souza to place the ball in the bottom left of the goal.
"I'm very happy to have five goals in the first seven games and honestly what inspires my offensive success is the whole team, our togetherness, and the way we play," expressed Real after the match.
"It's not just me scoring, these are team goals. I am glad I can help the team with my goals but as I said it's a team sport, these are our team goals and without the team I couldn't do it," continued Real.
Mo State remained aggressive and set up an opportunity in the 28th minute.
Fifth-year Adrián Esteban did exactly what he needed to do to score off a defensive error by the Owls securing a 2-0 lead for the Bears.
"It's my first goal in three years so it feels really good, I'm so happy for the team and happy for the victory," Esteban said post-match.
The second half played out with the Bears continuing off the momentum from the first.
The impressive offensive display from the Bears culminated in the 72nd minute. Senior Fionn Mooney set up junior Victor Wachowicz, who then headed a perfect assist for the ultimate header goal from freshman Ben Furlong, tallying his third goal of the season.
"It's really down to the team and the staff helping me be in the right position. All the goals have been off of one touch, and I've just been in the right area to score," stated Furlong following the victory.
Missouri State ended the night with 19 shots with 12 on goal, while the Owls shot seven shots, of which two were on goal. The Bears tallied 12 corner kicks, to the Owls' four. Mo State made two saves to Temple's nine.
"Now we refocus ourselves towards South Florida and just keep this mindset as it will be an important third game in the American Conference. We know they will be a tough opponent so it should be an unbelievable chance for our students and community to come and see their top-ranked Bears," continued Seabolt.
The Bears are home again for their next match on Friday, Sept. 25 at 7:00 p.m. to compete against South Florida at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium. Admission is free all season long.
