HOLLISTER, Mo. -- The Missouri State women's golf team led from start to finish and closed out the team championship Wednesday (Mar. 25) at the Ozarks National Invitational. Taking an eight-stroke lead into the final round, the Bears maintained that margin over second-place South Dakota State as both teams shot 306.
MoState finished the 54-hole event with a 904 team total compared to SDSU's 912, while UTEP (914), South Dakota (916) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (927) rounded out the top five in the 14-team field.
Freshman Chloe Bolte paced the Bears, finishing third with 74-72-76--222 in three trips around Ozark National Golf Course. Senior Kiser Pannier placed seventh after carding 76-73-75--224, while junior Tierney Baumstark shot 80-73-75--228 to finish 12th. Junior Coyee Zhang was a stroke back in a tie for 14th, carding 76-74-79--229 and Kyleigh Pfitzner posted 82-76-76--234 to finish 26th. Sophomore Marlee Edgeman shot 77-80-79--236 to tie for 28th, while sophomore Rylie Andrews tied for 59th with 88-81-79--248.
The Bears are idle next week before traveling to the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge in Pawley's Island, S.C., Apr. 6-8.
