Final Results
GULFPORT, Miss. -- The Missouri State women's golf team finished third Tuesday (Feb. 17) at its first tournament of the spring, the Great River Cup, a match-play format played at Windance Country Club. The Bears edged Central Arkansas in the third-place match on a tiebreaker after the two teams tied at 2.5 apiece, gaining the upper hand on total number of holes won.
Juniors
Tierney Baumstark and
Kyleigh Pfitzner took down their opponents, 3&1 and 2&1, respectively, while freshman
Chloe Bolte sank a five-foot par putt on the last hole to tie her match and earn MoState the win.
Host ULM downed Southern Miss in the championship match of the eight-team tournament, 3-2. The Bears earned their way into the third-place showdown Monday with a 3-2 victory over James Madison and a 4-1 loss to ULM.
For the tournament, Baumstark paced MSU by going 2-1, while Bolte went 1-1-1, and Pfitzner,
Kiser Pannier and
Coyee Zhang all went 1-2.
The Bears now head to the Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz. this Friday through Sunday (Feb. 20-22).
