The Lady Bear Necessities
  • Missouri State women's basketball continues its road trip with a Saturday afternoon (1:00 p.m., ESPN+) matchup at first-place Louisiana Tech.
  • Saturday's meeting will mark the sixth all-time meeting between the two squads. MoState owns a 4-2 advantage in the series, but Louisiana Tech won this year's previous meeting in Springfield, 60-51.
  • Kaemyn Bekemeier was named CUSA Player of the Week on Monday, marking her fourth weekly award of the season. She averaged 23.0 ppg and 7.5 rpg across a 2-0 week for MoState, while shooting .522 FG, .615 3FG and .875 FT. Bekemeier leads CUSA with 19.8 ppg against league opponents and in overall points with 441 (the only player in CUSA over the 400-point threshold this season).
  • Bekemeier leads MoState this season with 18.4 ppg, 8.4 rpg and 45 three-pointers. She is 32 points away from 1,000 for her career. She is 1 of just 8 players in NCAA DI with at least 440 points and 200 rebounds, and is one of just two players under 6'0" to do so. Bekemeier is also the only one of those eight players with 135 or more made free throws.
  • The second member of MoState's dynamic duo Lainie Douglas (So., Overland Park, Kan.) is averaging 12.9 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game and leads the team with a .530 FG% in CUSA games. She owns 31 blocks on the season, which is tied for second in Conference USA.
  • As a team, Missouri State ranks inside the top 10 nationally in: free throw made/game (6th - 17.1) and free throw attempts/game (9th - 23.0). The Lady Bears lead CUSA and rank 75th nationally in FT% at 74.5 percent. Bekemeier ranks inside the top 15 nationally in FTM (7th - 136) and FTA (12th - 164).
  • In the Cunningham era, Missouri State is 54-7 when scoring 70+ points, 61-4 when holding opponents to 65 points or less and 46-0 when opponents score less than 60 points. Missouri State is 0-5 this season when allowing 70 or more points.
  • Missouri State is 59-12 in the month of February since the 2016-17 season and this year's Lady Bears' schedule features nine games in February, the most since the 1992-93 season.
  • "Fresh" Faces - MoState's freshman trio (Brueggen, Hopkins, Washington) is making an immediate impact this season. Washington has started the last two games, and all three have played in at least 22 games. They have accounted for 314 of MoState's 383 bench points on the year.
  • Tale of Two Halves - MoState is -16 on the scoreboard in the first half this season, but flips the switch at the break to own a +100 point differential against its opponents in the second half of games.
  • Battle on the Boards - MoState is 14-2 this season when out-rebounding opponents, but is just 1-7 when losing the battle on the boards.
