Missouri State continues its 5-game home stand Friday at 7 p.m. when the Bears host in-state foe Truman State University at Great Southern Bank Arena. Fans will also get an opportunity to meet the players for autographs in the arena concourse after the game.
This will be the 128th meeting between the Bears and Bulldogs, dating back to 1923. Mo State leads the all-time series, 83-44, the fifth-longest series against any school. Only series against SEMO (148 games), Missouri S&T (141), Northwest Missouri (135) and Central Missouri (133) have more meetings.
Trey Williams Jr. (So., Centralia, Ill.) logged his second career double-double in Tuesday's season opener vs. Lincoln, his second in seven games. He racked up 11 points and 10 assists on Tuesday, which marked the first time a Bear had reached double-figures in assists since his last double-double (13 pts., 11 asst.) at Sam Houston (2/28/26). He is a Preseason All-CUSA selection after starting all 34 games a year ago and racking up 321 points with 21 double-figure scoring games as a freshman with a 2.42 assist-to-turnover ratio.
The Bears shot 54.8 pct. from the field vs. Lincoln, pushing them to 34-6 under Cuonzo Martin when they make more than half of its field goals attempts.
With a win on opening night, head coach Cuonzo Martin picked up his 290th career victory (290-239), putting him one step closer to the 300-win milestone. There are currently 81 active DI coaches with 300 wins.
Melakih Cunningham (So., Gary, Ind.) is coming off a career-high 19 points vs. Lincoln on Tuesday. He was 7-for-8 from the field with a dunk and converted 5-of-6 from beyond the arc to become just the fifth Bear since 2021 to knock down 5 triples in a game. His 83.3 percentage beyond the arc ranks 15th nationally.
In his Mo State debut, Andrej Acimovic (So., Bijeljina, Bosnia) registered a game-high 24 points to lead the Bears past Lincoln. The Indiana transfer was 9-of-16 from the field and 6-of-7 at the line.
The Bears return 16.7 percent of their scoring, 13.1 percent of their rebounding and 22.0 percent of minutes played from last year's 16-18 squad.
Trey Williams Jr. shares the DI national lead in assist-to-turnover ratio (10.0) and is one of just 4 players nationally to post a double-double on opening night.
Mo State has 12 newcomers on its 2026-27 roster, including 5 international players. Only 8 DI schools have more international newcomers and only 20 programs have more total international squad members.
