Cross Checking the Bears

Missouri State returns to action Friday at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Ill. The Bears will compete in the women's 6K Red Race at 2:15 p.m. at Newman Golf Course.
Friday's meet will be streamed live on ESPN+ and will serve as Missouri State's final competition before the Conference USA Championship on Oct. 30 in Huntsville, Ala.
The Bears enter Friday following a seventh-place finish in the 29-team Harter's Habanero 5K at the Chile Pepper Festival. Missouri State totaled 199 points, finishing just two behind Texas and three ahead of Baylor while also placing ahead of North Texas, Southern Miss and Dallas Baptist.
Ella Cronhardt led Missouri State in Fayetteville with a 21st-place finish in 17:01.9, the second-fastest 5K performance in program history. Riley Bryan followed in 31st at 17:16.6, the sixth-fastest 5K mark in program history.
Missouri State had eight runners finish under 18 minutes at the Chile Pepper Festival. Elsa Henry crossed in 17:38.6, followed by Makenna Madetzke in 17:44.8 and Amy Gotfredson in 17:50.4 to round out the Bears' scoring five.
Tabitha Fox (17:53.3), Ella Rew (17:55.3) and Lena Singleton (17:58.6) also broke the 18-minute mark in Fayetteville.
Cronhardt and Bryan have posted top-12 marks in Missouri State history in consecutive meets. At the Gans Creek Classic on Sept. 25, Cronhardt ran the fifth-fastest 6K in program history at 21:03.5, while Bryan's 21:17.7 ranked 12th.
Friday marks Missouri State's first 6K since the Gans Creek Classic.
