The Lady Bear NecessitiesÂ
- Missouri State women's basketball will face off against Wichita State in a neutral site game on Saturday afternoon (3:30 p.m.) at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo. The 28.5 Hoops Women's Basketball Invitational pits old rivals against each other with the Lady Bears and Shockers facing off in game one, followed by Kansas taking on Missouri. MoState leads the all-time series against Wichita State 53-37, but is 0-4 against the Shockers in neutral site matchups.Â
- The Lady Bears are off to their best start (3-0) since the 2019-20 season and Saturday's matchup is the third consecutive game away from home for the Lady Bears.Â
- Kaemyn Bekemeier (Jr., Republic, Mo.) was named Conference USA Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 21.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game across two wins for the Lady Bears last week.Â
- Getting to the line - In the NCAA, Missouri State ranks 7th in FTA/G (29.0) and 14th in FTM/G (20.0), while Bekemeier ranks 5th in FTM (22) and 11th in FTA (26).Â
- Missouri State ranks second in CUSA in three-point field goal defense, limiting its opponents to .222 (8-of-36) from behind the arc to start the season.Â
- The 2025-26 Lady Bear squad has a new look this season, as Missouri State replaces all five of its starters from a year ago. MoState lost 69.2 percent of its scoring and 60.9 percent of its rebounding from last season.Â
- MoState returns seven players from last year's squad, highlighted by Bekemeier and Lainie Douglas (So., Overland Park, Kan.). The Lady Bears also welcome seven new players - a group that consists of four transfers and three freshmen.
- The Lady Bears were picked to finish fourth in their first season as a member of Conference USA in the league's preseason poll. MoState slotted in behind Louisiana Tech, Liberty and Middle Tennessee. Little Rock transfer Lee was selected to the CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team. Lee was an All-OVC first-team member a season ago after averaging 14.2 points per game for the Trojans, and she averaged 19.7 points in three career games against Missouri State.Â
- Last season, the Lady Bears secured their eighth consecutive 20-win season (streak began in 2017-18). Missouri State is one of just 13 Division I programs to accomplish that feat. MSU is the only one of the 13 programs to do so under the leadership of three different head coaches (Kellie Harper, Amaka Agugua-Hamilton and Beth Cunningham).
- In the Cunningham era, Missouri State is 48-5 when scoring 70+ points, 51-1 when holding opponents to 65 points or less and 39-0 when opponents score less than 60 points.Â
