NORMAN, Okla. -- Missouri State's women's tennis fall season continued this weekend at the ITA Regionals here with the Bears gaining valuable experience against the Midwest's top programs, Thursday through Saturday.

The ITA sponsors eight regional tournaments each fall with top finishers advancing to four sectional championship sites, Nov. 6-9.

In the main singles draw, MSU's Lucy Latham was knocked out in the round of 64 by Nebraska's Conley Raidt, 1-6, 4-6. She later squared off with Wichita State's Tatyana Nikolenko in a consolation match, falling 6-2, 6-4.

The Bears also had three players compete in the qualifying singles draw. Matilde Ercoli dropped a three-set decision in the opening round to Tulsa's Alice Baba, 6-4, 2-6, 1-6. Later, Raluca Puscas fell to Kansas State's Martaa Chogsomjav, 1-6, 1-6, and Billur Gonlusen lost a nailbiter to Iowa's Nikita Vishwase 6-4, 2-6, 6-7 (5-7), both in the first round.

The trio each had an additional consolation matches in the qualifying draw with Gonlusen snagging Missouri State's only win of the weekend, beating Drake's Jordan Dookie, 7-5, 6-2 on Friday.

Missouri State also entered two doubles teams at the event. In the round of 64, the MSU tandem of Latham and Gonlusen lost to Minnesota's Anali Kocevar and Mia Liepert, 8-3, and the Bears pair of Puscas and Ercoli were defeated by Drake's Maja Dodik and Jordane Dookie, 8-2. Both teams also dropped consolation-round matches.

The Bears will wrap up their fall schedule on October 25 when they travel to McKendree University for a pair of duals in Lebanon, Ill.
