Cross Country Announces 2024 Schedule

SPRINGFIELD – Head coach Jordan Fife formally announced the Bears' 2024 women's cross country schedule on Tuesday. The slate for the upcoming season features six meets, including a co-hosted race in Springfield in September.

The Bears' season will open at the Redhawks Invitational hosted by Southeast Missouri State on Aug. 30. Missouri State will then co-host a meet for the first time since 2017. The Queen City Classic will take place on Sept. 13 at Betty and Bobby Allison Sports Town and will feature Evangel, Drury and Southwest Baptist.

The season continues on Sept. 27 at Missouri for the Gans Creek Invitational, while the Bears' only meet in October will be the Bradley Pink Classic hosted by Bradley on the 18th.

Missouri State's final appearance at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship will take place at Northern Iowa on Nov. 1 as the Bears look to continue climbing up the MVC rankings after a fifth-place showing a year ago.

Bradley will host the Midwest Regional meet on Nov. 15.

"We're shaking things up a bit this year with a new opener on the schedule, as well as a test run of a meet here in Springfield with some local teams," Fife said. "Our meets at Mizzou and Bradley should really prepare us well for the MVC Championship and the Midwest Regional with a large number of teams from the Midwest planning to attend both."

Fife enters his 11th year at the helm of the Missouri State cross country program. In 2023, the Bears won the Billiken XC Invite and placed second at the Angel Mounds Invitational before placing fifth at the MVC Championship.
