May 01, 2024 | Women's Basketball
SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State women's basketball head coach Beth Cunningham announced today the signing of transfer Makennah White. White has one year of eligibility remaining.
Â
The 6-2 forward spent last season at Seton Hall, where she appeared in 25 games. She averaged 3.0 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in 12.5 minutes per game for the Pirates.
Â
Prior to her time at Seton Hall, White played three seasons at UMass where she appeared in 84 total games and made 20 starts. As a junior for the Minutewomen, White averaged a career-high 9.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in 23.0 minutes per game. She shot .465 from the field and a team-leading .824 from the charity stripe. As a sophomore, she started a career-high 10 games and averaged 6.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. In her freshman campaign at UMass, White made eight starts and reached double figure points in five games.
Â
A native of Farrell, Pa., White was a standout at West Middlesex High School. She was a three-time district champion and captured a PIAA state title in her junior season. White was also named to the All-State first team as a junior and earned All-State third team honors as a sophomore. A multi-sport athlete, White also lettered in volleyball and softball during her high school career.
Â
Cunningham on White:
"I couldn't be more excited to have Makennah join our Lady Bear family. Her physical, inside presence helps fill an immediate need. She was a major contributor on a team that won an Atlantic 10 championship and played in the NCAA tournament. She has spent a year playing in the Big East and she understands what it takes to win and has the intangibles necessary for success."
