Bears Splashes (Women)
- Missouri State women's swimming & diving enters as eight-time defending Missouri Valley Conference champions. The Bears have won 20 of the last 22 MVC titles.
- Last time out, the Bears had a dominant performance against Omaha and defeated the Mavericks, 217-130, across a two-day meet at Hammons Student Center Pool. This will be the first time the women's team swims outside of Springfield since Oct. 17 against Arkansas in Fayetteville.
- Junior Sophia Coleta holds the top MVC time this season in the 500-yard freestyle (4:54.70), pacing the rest of the conference by over two seconds. She has four individual event wins this season, two of which were in the 500 free. She broke the Hammons Student Center Pool record in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:04.46) against Omaha, which is also the fastest Valley time in the event this season by over 10 seconds.
- Fifth-year swimmer Cabrini Johnson broke the program record in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.40) by .03 seconds against Drury on Oct. 25. She also holds the program record in the 100 breast (1:00.37) she set to win gold in the event at the 2024 MVC Championships.
- Senior Payton Smith has the top MVC time this season in the 200-yard butterfly with a collegiate personal best time of 2:01.83. She has two individual event wins this season, both in the 20 fly.
- Sophomore Maggie Arceneaux won her second career MVC Diver of the Week award on Oct. 30 following career-best scores in the 1-meter dive (275.40) and 3-meter dive (254.33). She has three event wins this season.
Bears Splashes (Men)
- Missouri State men's swimming & diving has finished runner-up in back-to-back Mid-American Conference Championships behind Miami (Ohio), which has won four in a row since MSU last won it in 2020. This is the first year the men's team returns to the MVC.
- The men's team also put out a masterclass performance against Omaha by defeating the Mavericks, 231-116, across two days at Hammons Student Center Pool. This will be the first meet the men have had away from Springfield since their opening meet against Southern Illinois in Carbondale.
- Senior Reese Hodgins holds the MVC-leading time in the 200-yard freestyle (1:36.94), which also doubles as the HSC Pool record he set on Oct. 25 against Drury. His time paces the conference by over a second. Hodgins has four individual event wins this season, including three in the 200 free.
- Junior Luigi Maciel da Silva has the fastest MVC time in the 100-yard breaststroke (53.79). The former Division II finalist in the event leads the Bears with six individual event wins all in breaststroke events.Â
- Senior Brunno Suzuki-Tomiyama was named MVC Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 9 after a three-win performance at Southern Illinois. He has the second-fastest Valley time in the 400 IM (3:56.60) which is an HSC Pool record. He is the reigning MAC 500-yard freestyle champion and has the third-fastest conference time in the event this season (4:36.33).
- Gonzalo Ruiz has been named MVC Freshman of the Week twice so far in the early season. He won it on Oct. 9 with two backstroke wins at Southern Illinois and again on Nov. 6 with his three wins against Omaha.
