CONWAY, Ark. – The Missouri State tennis team finished its second fall event at the UCA Invitational on Saturday with nine wins in singles and five wins in doubles.
 
The Bears faced opponents from Central Arkansas, Southeastern Louisiana, North Texas, Austin Peay and Northwestern State during two days of play.
 
Senior transfer Cristina Flaquer improved her fall singles record to 5-1 with three straight singles wins at the invitational. Flaquer held her opponents to less than four points when she beat Northwestern State's Honoka Umeda 6-4, 6-0, UCA's Nanoka Kazama 6-2, 6-0 and North Texas' Lou Chalard 6-3, 6-3.
 
Sandra Lukacova and Nicole Ross also finished the weekend undefeated in doubles. The pair defeated Marina Adati and Lilly Schultz from North Texas 6-1 before beating Bente Bierma and Nadia Hitzman from SELU 6-4. Ross and Lukacova closed out the weekend with a 6-1 win against Ting-An Chen and Seohyun Park from UCA.
 
"I'm proud of our girls this weekend," head coach Ellie Burger said. "We used it as an opportunity to prepare us for the MVC Individual Tournament. I'm really looking forward to next weekend."
 
Missouri State is set to host the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Tournament next week. Play will begin on Friday and continue all weekend at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield. Admission to the event is free.
