Cross Country Bears Off to Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Missouri State cross country team will head to the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival for its first out-of-state meet of the season, Friday afternoon.

Two weeks ago, the Bears won the Billikens XC Invitational with 27 points and the highest individual finisher. Mia McLain won the race with a time of 18:04.1, seven seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. The Bears averaged a time of 18:31.

The Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival will be the Bears first big race of the season. Last year, over 30 college teams from around the country competed in the 5k with Edna Dar leading the way for the Bears in 37th place with a finish time of 17:32.8. Mary Margaret Harris was the highest finishing runner who returned to the team with a 18:26.6 finish to land in 106th place.

The Bears will start their race at 4:30 p.m. at Agri Park in Fayetteville, Ark. Live timing and a live webcast will be available.
