
Wijkstrom Continues Hot Play for Bear Golfers

MADISON, Ill. -- A week after setting the school tournament scoring record, Missouri State senior Hampus Wijkstrom is back in contention this week at the Derek Dolenc Invitational in suburban St. Louis. Wijkstrom fired 66-70--136 on Monday (Sept. 25) at Gateway Golf Links, six under par, and is in fourth place entering Tuesday's final round. He is six strokes behind 36-hole leader Anthony Ruthey of tournament host SIU-Edwardsville.
As a team, MSU is tied for sixth in the 16-team field after posting 277-288--565. The host Cougars lead the team race with a 544 total after shooting 273-271, with UT-Martin second at 550 and Southern Indiana third at 558. Weber State (559) is fourth, followed by Lindenwood (563), the Bears and New Orleans, Idaho (568), Morehead State (569) and Murray State(571)Â rounding out the top 10.
Senior Max Kreikemeier is second for Missouri State and tied for 30th overall after carding 72-70--142, even par. A threesome of Bears are tied in 54th place with 146 totals -- senior Eric Schuessler with 70-76, sophomore Christian Rischer with 69-77, and freshman Andrew Fallis has 74-72. Junior Ludvig Wijkstrom is tied for 35th while playing as an individual after shooting 74-69--143.
Tuesday's final round is scheduled for an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start.
