ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Day one of the Saint Louis University Invitational is in the books for the Missouri State tennis team.
 
Overall, the Bears recorded eight wins in singles and a doubles win.
 
The day brought two Bears starting the season undefeated. Juliette Robinson fought through both of her matches to end the day with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Fabiana Labrador of Lindenwood and a 7-5, 1-6, 10-4 win over SLU's Sandra Gines. Robinson's tiebreak was the first of the season.
 
Newcomer Tuana Gunal also ended the day with a pair of wins. She started her day with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jordan Le from Lindenwood, then followed it up with a 6-2, 6-4 win against Emmerson White from SLU.
 
Cristina Flaquer and Mary Houston began their doubles play with a check in the win column. The pair of seniors recorded their first win of the season over Juliana Kulczynski and Fabiana Labrador from Lindenwood.
 
"Overall, we had a good day. It was great to get back into a match setting and see what the girls looked like playing other teams. I'm looking forward to day two and seeing what we can do," head coach Ellie Burger said.
 
The Bears will close out the SLU Invitational on Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Lindenwood Tennis Courts.
